Academic Workshop between the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Göttingen

Call for Applications 2026-27

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Göttingen are calling for applications for funding for the implementation of an academic workshop in Göttingen or Jerusalem in the academic year 2026-27.

Funding
The following funds are available:
(a) The hosting university can cover all accommodation costs for staff from sending university, as well as local expenses for the workshop – up to 5,000 Euro;
(b) The sending university can cover travel costs for the workshop participants – up to 5,000 Euro.

Eligibility
Eligible faculty for this call are academic tenured or tenure track faculty members from all faculties of the University of Göttingen and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The participants should, hence, consist of early career as well as senior scientists. Please note: HUJI faculty must be employed by HUJI (at least 50 % position).

Expected Outcomes
To measure the success of the project, the following outcomes are expected and should be detailed in the proposal workplan.


  • Submission of a proposal for further external funding towards the end of the project
  • Joint publications
  • Jointly supervised students


Submission
Please submit an application prepared jointly by both research teams involved in Göttingen and Jerusalem, which includes the following information:


  • Applicants’ names, affiliations and full contact details
  • Topic of the workshop
  • Target group of participants from Göttingen and Israel
  • Short bio of each applicant (up to half a page for each applicant)
  • Planned dates for the workshop
  • Short description on the nature of the collaboration, significance, benefit and complementary aspects.
  • Expected goals and results of the workshop
  • Perspectives for follow up activities (see “Expected outcomes” above)
  • Budget plan


Proposals should be no more than three pages.

Timeline
Applications must be submitted as one pdf file to the international offices of both universities simultaneously in electronic form by August 10th, 2026.
Results will be communicated in October 2026.
The workshop should take place within the academic year 2026-27.

Reporting
All awardees must, as a condition of receiving an award under this call, complete a narrative report of achievements (1–2 pages), and describe how they intend to take the research forward beyond the funding period, in accordance with the workplan and expected outcomes of the workshop. This should be completed within 3 months of completion of the project.

Important Note
Please be aware that the Göttingen International Office and International Office of Hebrew University Jerusalem will not be able to provide any organizational support in advance or for the duration of the workshop.
